The following is my response to a video that was posted to YouTube a couple of weeks ago by a woman names Jessica Valenti entitled “Friday Feminist Fuck You: Online Misogyny” First lets have a listen to what Ms Potty Mouth has to say…

She begins “Fuck you online misogynists I started Feministing four years ago and I’ve been dealing with your sorry asses ever since then.”

You mean there are people on the Internet who disagree with you? Oh my that must be terribly frustrating for you. Perhaps people would be more inclined to listen to your point of view if you started off with something other than “Fuck You” and “I’m tired of dealing with your sorry asses”. Are you under some sort of court order forcing you to deal with “sorry asses”? If not then all you have to do is stop. But then I guess that would mean you would have one less thing to complain about and that just wouldn’t do. It seems your stuck between a rock and a female brain. Life is hard sometimes. Even for women.

It appears you have a cause, “Feministing”, by the way is that a real word or something you just made up? I’m just curious as I couldn’t find it in the dictionary. Perhaps its Spanish. It sounds Spanish. Never the less one would think that you would want to win people over to your point of view and get them to support your cause. Starting off with “Fuck you” is not the way to do it. Maybe you think it is some how cute and funny and perhaps even attention getting?

In high school I had a buddy who’s girlfriend enjoyed slapping him across the face at the slightest provocation. She thought this was both cute and funny, and it certainly got her lots of attention. (It should have gotten her detention) After all it’s not like he could hit here back, she was a girl after all. My friend being a decent although somewhat naive fellow believed in the “privileged sex” however I doubt he thought of it in quite that way. One day while the three of us were standing in the school hallway chatting between classes this twit of a girl decided, due to some imagined slight, to slap me across the face, hard. So I slapped her back just as hard. This was the only time in my life I ever hit a girl/woman/female whatever. Anyway, she was so shocked by this that to my knowledge she never slapped anyone again.

You see she thought she was being cute and funny but in truth she was being rude and obnoxious. You may think your “Friday Feminist Fuck You” videos are cute and funny but what they really are is rude and obnoxious.

So getting back to the rest of the video. You claim that having had to put up with “sorry asses” for low these many years (4 is it?) that you have learned something about “misogynists” (i.e. any man who doesn’t agree with your point of view) You then proceed to list a sub-category of “misogynists” that post videos on YouTube. Lets have a look at this list shall we.

1. The Braniac Commenter

“First there’s the sexist who tells you generally through a misspelled comment how women are stupider than men. These guys really make my day because they do the work of mocking their idiocy for me, so thanks guys.”

It sound like you’re referring to Dick Masterson over at Men Are Better Than Women He’s a funny guy and he’s made a success out of showing the many different ways that men are better than women. Of course Feminists or is it Feministas have there own humor sites about men that they like to share with their sisters. The S.C.U.M Manifesto comes to mind. But then that’s a bit of a cliche isn’t? after all that was written back in 1967. What about today’s feminists? Where do they go to see how silly and stupid men are and how wise women are? Wait a minute! I think I know the answer to this one. All they have to do is watch any sitcom or commercial! Or read any newspaper or magazine or… Well you get the idea.

For a very long time now, thanks to the feminist movement, Western society has gotten the message loud and clear: Women Good-men bad, Women Smart-men dumb, Woman Innocent-men guilty etc…

You may find this hard to wrap your head around but from a male perspective a lot of women are stupid. It’s not that you lack intelligence its just that you have a different kind of intelligence. A different kind of brain really. You see God or nature if you prefer meant the male and female to be complementary to each other. Equal in dignity, equal under the law but not the same. Male and female are different in very fundamental ways and until you feminists come to terms with that and stop being pissed off that you weren’t born male we just are not going to make any progress towards true reconciliation. Oh and by the way that little comment about men “misspelling”, that’s a cheap shot. Like women never make a spelling mistake. That’s the sort of insulting condescending tone that make men think something along the lines of “What a stupid arrogant bimbo”

2. The Secret Sexist

“Then of course we have the sexist who does ah video response railing against feminism and women’s rights in general all while wearing sunglasses and hiding in a dark corner so that his mother girlfriend neighbors and co-workers wont know what he actually thinks of women. (And how he actually spends his time. Eek.)

OK, It sounds like your taking about this guy and since he decided to speak for himself let’s here what he as to say…

3. The ‘STFU, Bitches!’ Sexist

One of my favorite kinds of sexist and we have this guy on blogs and on you tube is the dude who claims that women in the U.S. have absolutely nothing to complain about and that if we really want to experience oppression we should ship our asses off to Saudi Arabia ah honestly this is the most tired played out anti-feminist tactic ever ah it’s a red herring it’s a cheap argument to um to try and take attention away from the fact that U.S. feminists talk about international women’s issues all the time and that one type of oppression in another country doesn’t trump ah the oppression that’s here in ours women in the U.S. are still 40% more likely to be poor we still have legislation that limits our reproductive rights and the rates of domestic violence and rape are still unacceptable (And that’s just the tip of the misogyny iceberg) And of course the last time I checked its women who get to decide what issues are important to us not sexist assholes

OK, there is a lot of nonsense to deal with here. First off as an educated white woman living in the U.S. no matter how oppressed you think you are (by the way, are you seeing a therapist?) I can guarantee you’re better off than 90% of the women and men around the world. And if by some miracle one of those billions of individuals ever had a chance to change places with you they would think they had arrived in paradise compared to the hell they came from. Oh and I’m happy to hear that you and your feminist friends talk all the time about the poor oppressed women in other countries but I’m curios if you actual do anything about it. Oh wait I forgot in a feminists mind if she’s talked about it she has done something about it. You see that’s one of those strange Male/Female difference. For men there is a big difference between talking and doing.

But of course your right when you say “that one type of oppression in another country doesn’t trump ah the oppression that’s here in ours“. Um ya, what oppression would that be again? Oh you mean that “women in the U.S. are still 40% more likely to be poor” That wouldn’t have anything to do with being lazy sluts who spread their legs for multiple partners before they’re even out of high school and wind up with a bunch of kids to raise unsure of who the father is and looking to the state to support them. (Was that a run on sentence?) No I didn’t think so after all it would be sexist to even suggest such a thing. So all these poor women are poor because they’re oppressed by… men? And what about all the poor men? Are they oppressed to? No of course not there are no oppressed poor men. Only women can be victims in your feminist universe. You need to read my blog and find out what’s really going on… Who’s really oppressing who, and why.

Did you know that the CIA helped fund the beginnings of modern feminism. Why would they do that? I’m glad you asked. Because it is much easier to control and dominate a broken and morally bankrupt society than it is to control a strong society which is built on the traditional family structure with a strong religious tradition.

So OK, back to the horrid oppression of women. In your next point you said “we still have legislation that limits our reproductive rights” How is that exactly??? You have the right to an abortion. Contraception is freely available. You have the right to say no. Sorry you lost me on this one. Oh wait maybe you were talking about men.

Once a woman is pregnant by her partner whether by consent or by accident or by deception. Unlike the woman the man has no reproductive rights. Unlike the woman the man has no right to opt out of being a father and assuming all the legal and economic burdens that implies. Unlike woman men never know for sure if they are the actual parent unless the man has the wherewithal to get a DNA test done to determine paternity. Can you imagine the outcry if 30% of mothers were forced by law to take care of someone else’s child. Well thank goodness it’s only the men that have to deal with that injustice. Reproductive rights for men? Yes I know a foolish concept. After all feminists like to talk about equality between the sexes except of course in those instances where it would be inconvenient for women. In those cases we’ll just have to agree that one gender is more equal than the other gender. Yes?

OK, moving on to your next point. “and the rates of domestic violence and rape are still unacceptable” Yes I agree. With 50% or more of domestic abuse being perpetrated by women against men and an even higher percentage of child abuse being committed by women against children I agree something needs to be done about women. And Rape well yes we must do something about all those Rapists. Does that include all the female teachers who seem to pop up in the news every week or so? Well I suppose I shouldn’t be to flippant. Rape is a serious crime and when it actually happens the perpetrator needs to be punished. I say when it actually happens because a large number of so called rapes never actually happen. But what about all those rape stats that Oprah and Ms Magazine keep telling us about? Well lets have a look at how those states are collected. The following is an excerpt is from an Op-Ed piece published in the Los Angels Times called:

 

What campus rape crisis?

 

Promiscuity and hype have created a phony epidemic at colleges.

So where do the numbers come from? During the 1980s, feminist researchers committed to the rape-culture theory discovered that asking women directly if they had been raped yielded disappointing results — very few women said that they had been. So Ms. magazine (There’s our CIA friend again. Go figure.) commissioned University of Arizona public health professor Mary Koss to develop a different way to measure the prevalence of rape.

Rather than asking female students about rape per se, Koss asked them if they had ever experienced actions that she then classified as rape. One question, for example, asked, “Have you had sexual intercourse when you didn’t want to because a man gave you alcohol or drugs?” — a question that is ambiguous on several fronts, including the woman’s degree of incapacitation, the causal relation between being given a drink and having sexual intercourse, and the man’s intentions. Koss’ method produced the 25% rate, which Ms. then published.

It was a flawed study on a number of levels, but the most powerful refutation came from her own subjects: 73% of the women whom the study characterized as rape victims told the researchers that they hadn’t been raped. Further, 42% of the study’s supposed victims said they had had intercourse again with their alleged assailants — though it is highly unlikely that a raped woman would have sex again with the fiend who attacked her.You see it’s not that I’m unsympathetic towards authentic victims of rape it’s just that I’m highly sceptical when it comes to feminist statics. And when a man is charged with rape I think the whole innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt is the only way to go.

Good gravy this is a long post. I’ve been writing and researching this thing for hours. OK we’re nearly done with this section so hang in there. Bimbo’s next… Whoops I mean Jessica’s next point is “And of course the last time I checked its women who get to decide what issues are important to us not sexist assholes” I don’t ever recall hearing anybody say that women didn’t have a right to decide for themselves what’s important to them. The thing is that women are only half of the human race so what affects you also affects us as men. Commenting on these issues and even disagreeing does not make us “sexist assholes” Although I agree that some men could articulate they’re comments with a little more and reason and without resorting to vulgarities such as “Fuck you” or “Sexist asshole” or “Sorry asses” But then who am I to say how men or women should express themselves. Free speech is a wonderful thing. We should all use it while we still have because I don’t think it’s going to be around much longer.

4. Things that feminists have never, ever heard before.

And of course the most common sexist on YouTube is your run of the mill idiot who thinks it’s just hilarious to leave in comments things like suck my dick or your a dyke ah just a bit of advice guys your making our job a lot easier by showing the world that sexists are completely unoriginal your making a fantastic case for feminism

Well no, I’m afraid that I’ll have to disagree with you there. All that means is that they’re unfortunately just average guys who you’ve managed to piss off with you stupidity. Having been forced through a feminized education system many men today actually don’t have the skills necessary to express them selves any better. But if you think women are superior I suggest you listen to Dick’s Voicemail. You’re ignorant comments don’t sound so very nice coming back at you do they? Of course being the creative sort (A Manley Trait) I did rewrite your words a bit giving them an edge and a bit of humor. It’s a pity that more women aren’t as creative and funny as men.

5. Things they all have in common, they’re cowards

but to spite all the different forms that sexism takes on YouTube there’s one thing that they all have in common, they’re cowards. ah They’re afraid of women, they’re afraid of the truth, and they’re afraid of what would happen if women had real political and institutional power. And instead of being men about it, they hide behind the anonymity of the Internet. You know I blog every day under my real name. (As do all the Feministing.com writers) If you go to my website you can find my email address. I don’t hold anything back because I’m not ashamed of the things that I believe in. So if you’re really so positive that feminism is evil and that women are some how less than men then say it loudly and proudly. Put down those sunglasses. And screen names, put your real name out there and let your community know exactly who you are (Seriously, i dare you)

Now you’ve pissed me off! Are you for real or what? Anyone who disagrees with you is a coward who’s hiding behind the anonymity of the Internet? And you think everyone should disclose there personal information on line just because you do. You’re an author, a commentator and spokesperson for feminism. You are a semi-public figure because that is what you’ve chosen. By your own admission you’ve been at this for four years. You expect some Joe Smith Nobody who isn’t a public figure and doesn’t want to be, to surrender his privacy to the world just because you dare him to. What are you ten years old? All Joe Smith Nobody wants to do is express his opinion that you’re ideas are goofy and he doesn’t agree. And he very much wants to express his opinion without risking identity theft or having his email account filled with a combination of spam and hate mail. Is he not allowed to exercise a little prudence. Are feminazis going to arrest him for exercising a little common sense. Or is some twit of a women going to call him a coward and try and shame him by saying he’s not a real man unless he does what she wants. What an ego you have. Got trouble getting it through the door when you come home at night? And what’s all this let your community know exactly who you are bull! Do you think his family and friends, his community doesn’t recognize him when they see him on YouTube? Are you serious?!!! It’s not his community he’s concerned about. And as for this little gem “they’re afraid of what would happen if women had real political and institutional power” Feminist already have that power and it is frighting. Good men, honest decent men can have their life’s work taken from them in an instant on just the say so of a women. A man can loose his reputation and his lively hood as quick as you can snap your fingers just on the word of some bubble headed girl who decides she needs an excuse or an alibi for her sluttish behavior. A man can have his home taken and children ripped from his heart because with out warning one day his wife decides she’s board and wantes to find a new man. After all there is very little down side for the woman. She gets to keep the house, the car, the kids, plus she gets the alimony check and the child support check. Never mind that she swore before God and man that she would stand by him no matter what. Through the influence of feminism women do have power. Legal power, political power, institutional power to destroy any man they choose. And when they do many times its only the most trivial of reasons.

Lay aside your hatred of men. Take of your sunglasses off and try and see what life is like for the average Joe Smith Nobody in this feminized purgatory where all the rights belong to women while all the responsibilities are mens alone to bare. You think you are oppressed? You are a fool and a pawn in a much larger and more threatening reality than i think its possible for you to comprehend. The United States is on the brink of marshal law. FEMA has built hundreds of concentration camps all across your country just waiting for the order to be given. Your government is openly talking about launching a nuclear first strike against Iran before the fall election. Wake the fuck up.

No one knows what the future holds for sure so there is a very slim chance that the most distressing problem you will ever face is dealing with all those “Sorry asses” on YouTube. Lets hope so though I doubt it.
